The Des Moines Youth Hockey Association (DMYHA) offers recreational youth hockey players the opportunity to learn fundamental skills and basic team concepts in a positive, fun, and enthusiastic environment. DMYHA also makes available to the participants of the Youth Hockey Division a highly competitive Travel Hockey program for skaters with above average talent.

The House League program allows players to experience competitive play locally, and all players are given equal opportunity to participate and encouraged to play all positions. Each division holds a playoff tournament to determine an overall winner. It is a USA Hockey sanctioned house league. All age divisions within the House League form a Select Team each season. The Select Teams will play games against House and Travel teams from other top Iowa programs which gives House players "a taste of travel hockey" with its limited travel schedule.

The Travel Hockey program we call "Junior Buccaneers" travel from Des Moines, Iowa to play ice hockey in other Iowa communities and in many other states. Our teams frequently make road trips to Illinois, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. We offer Travel Hockey programs in the 10 & Under (Squirt), 12 & Under (PeeWee), 14 & Under (Bantam) and 18 & Under (Midget) age groups. Participants are selected annually and the program emphasizes strict discipline, individual independence, team play, and the development of each participant's skating and hockey skills.

All coaches and officials are USA Hockey certified and constant development is strongly encouraged.  With DMYHA your child will learn great attributes that they can carry over with them for years to come; Sportsmanship, team work, and leadership to name a few.  Not to mention they will get to partcipate in the “coolest game on earth”
